Glaucoma is a disease of the eye with gradual damage to the optic nerve, which can be asymptomatic for a long time, but can cause permanent vision loss. It is most often caused by an increase in the internal pressure of the eye. As the damage is irreversible, early detection and regular monitoring are vital to preserve your vision.
As part of the examination, an ophthalmologist will measure eye pressure (tonometry), check the optic nerve with a slit lamp and OCT scan, and assess functional impairment with a visual field test. These tests can be used to determine whether glaucoma is present and what stage the disease is at.
Our experienced ophthalmologists work with dedication and empathy to ensure that all our patients receive the highest quality of care.
