Our equipments

In our clinic, we pay special attention to the fact that both examinations and treatments are carried out using modern, precision medical technology. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows early detection and accurate monitoring of ophthalmological and neurological lesions and the planning of targeted, personalised treatments.

Ideghártya (retina) betegségek

Ophthalmic Ultrasound

Accutome B-scan Plus

The ultrasound examination is a gentle, painless procedure that allows us to obtain information about the interior of the eye, even if visibility is blocked by conditions such as mature cataract or hemorrhage.

Ultrasound operates in an inaudible frequency range for the human ear. When ultrasound waves are directed at the closed eye with a probe, the reflected waves are processed by the device, allowing it to produce images or video.

Slit Lamp

Topcon SL-D7

The slit lamp is an essential tool for ophthalmic basic examination. It is used for the biomicroscopic examination of the eyelids, the anterior parts of the eye, the lens, the vitreous body, and the retina (the visual field) with different magnifications.

The examination takes approximately half a minute per eye and is conducted without touching the eye.

The operation of the device is based on the combination of a high-intensity, slit-shaped, focal light and a binocular (suitable for simultaneous viewing with both eyes) microscope, allowing for high-precision examination.

In our practice, we use the Topcon SL-D7 model, which is also suitable for photodocumentation.

Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT)

Heidelber Spectralis OCT+HRA

During an optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination, light rays scan the retina painlessly. This examination allows for the inspection of the optic nerve and optic disc, the detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of diseases, as well as the possibility to perform measurements of the same area over time (even years later). This is particularly significant in tracking the progression of certain diseases such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, macular edema, and hereditary retinal diseases (retina dystrophies).

Our clinic is equipped with the Heidelberg Spectralis OCT device, considered the “gold standard” in clinical practice and clinical trials. With this equipment, we can also perform autofluorescence imaging and angiography (vascular dye).

Visual Field Analyzer

Haag-Streit Octopus 900

Visual field testing is critical in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, but it can also be essential for many other conditions such as neurological or neuro-ophthalmological disorders, macular diseases, or even for evaluating driving license applications. Our clinic uses one of the world’s leading visual field analyzers. It is suitable for screening tests, static and kinetic visual field testing, and precise software-based tracking of changes.

During static (threshold perimetry), we measure the sensitivity of various points in the visual field: we determine the weakest intensity of a signal that can be detected by that part of the visual field. In kinetic visual field testing, we move a known-size and intensity signal from the periphery towards the center, allowing us to measure the field size and detect any potential narrowing.

Kerato-Refractometer and Non-Contact Tonometer

This device is used for the rapid and comfortable measurement of refractive errors, corneal curvature radius, corneal diameter, and non-contact intraocular pressure, as well as corneal thickness.

YAG Laser

Ellex Ultra Q YAG

Capsulotomy (removal of posterior capsule opacity)

A few months or years after cataract surgery, opacification of the posterior lens capsule may occur. This condition, known as posterior capsule opacification (PCO), can cause symptoms similar to cataract (cloudy or blurry vision). This condition can be treated with YAG laser, and vision clarity is usually restored within a few hours. The procedure is painless and takes only a few minutes, with no need to open the eye.

Iridotomy is a procedure used for patients with closed or narrow-angle glaucoma. During this procedure, a small hole is made in the iris, creating a connection between the anterior and posterior chambers of the eye, facilitating aqueous humor flow and preventing a glaucomatous crisis.

Fundus Laser

Quantel Easyret 577

Fundus laser treatment involves applying focused laser light to specific areas of the retina, causing controlled inflammation and scarring. The procedure is painless. While it is not expected to improve vision, it can prevent or halt further vision deterioration. This treatment is applied in cases of retinal tears, advanced diabetic retinopathy, and retinal circulatory disorders.

Our clinic offers yellow fundus laser, which has opened a new era in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. It has proven to be more effective and safer than traditional green laser. The device is also suitable for “subthreshold/micropulse” treatment, which is used for diabetic changes or the chronic form of central serous chorioretinopathy (CRC or RCS).

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

Ellex Solo SLT

In the treatment of glaucoma, the primary approach to reduce intraocular pressure is usually with eye drops, but laser treatment or even surgery may be required. Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a newer treatment available in only a few centers in Hungary, which targets and removes pigment granules obstructing the drainage system, increasing outflow and lowering intraocular pressure.

The method is effective and repeatable since it does not cause permanent damage to the eye. SLT works for about 70-80% of treated patients, with a pressure reduction of around 20-25%.

It can be applied both as initial and adjunctive therapy for early and advanced glaucoma patients.

The procedure is safe, minimally invasive, and has no systemic side effects, with only mild, reversible local effects.

While it may not be suitable for all types of glaucoma, it is a good option for most patients, either in combination with eye drops or as a standalone treatment.

The effectiveness of pressure reduction may diminish over time, so regular follow-up is essential. The procedure can be repeated if necessary.

A few minutes of painless testing can determine whether a patient is suitable for selective laser trabeculoplasty.
