General ophthalmic examination

As a first step, our ophthalmologist will review your past medical conditions, current complaints and family history in detail, then measure your visual acuity with distance and near reading glasses, supplemented by automated refractometry to quickly detect dioptres and refractive errors. The cornea, lens, conjunctiva and iris are then examined using a slit lamp, followed by a tonometry check of eye pressure to detect glaucoma early. With a dilated pupil, a fundus examination is performed to assess the condition of the optic nerve, optic nerve and the vessels of the eye. The process concludes with a detailed evaluation, where our doctor will assess the results, write a prescription if necessary, recommend a follow-up appointment or order further specialised tests such as OCT.
